LaGrange residents Barb Kalnes and Donna Skonning announce the opening of their new business venture, the ARTifact Project, which is dedicated to expanded use of fine art and vintage/antique productions for home or office. Offerings include refurbished furniture, lighting, glass and silver ware, sculpture, ethnic art, original paintings, fine art photography, and a multitude of one-of-a-kind accent pieces. ARTifact supports an eclectic, integrative design approach that mixes old with new to help create uniquely expressive and enjoyable living spaces.

The 23rd annual West End Arts Festival is a feast for the eyes, ears and palate with a line-up that includes exhibits from over 50 fine artists plus culinary demonstrations from local chefs and wine tastings with a sommelier, and live jazz.

This free festival is held in the shadow of the landmark Stone Avenue Metra Station along Burlington Avenue between Brainard and Waiola avenues.

Several music groups will be featured on the Performance Art Stage throughout the weekend including the Elmhurst College Jazz Band on Saturday evening and the Multiplicity Jazz ensemble on Sunday afternoon from 2:00-3:30 PM.

The West End Arts Festival is held in partnership with the Village of La Grange and made possible through the generosity of local businesses.

Food from local restaurants, beer and wine will be available for purchase at the festival.

During the 1960s and 70s, a few women composers began breaking through the music industry’s gender barrier. They were true trailblazers – role models who showed a new generation of women that they could and should find their own voices through their songwriting gifts.
